Within 30 days of obtaining a legal person business license, a company should apply to the foreign exchange bureau at the appropriate registration place for foreign exchange procedures. The application process requires the disclosure of basic information of the foreign invested enterprises and presentation of the following materials:

1. the approval document and certificate by the approving authority;

2. PRC legal person business license, original and a copy, from the State Industry and Commerce Administrative Bureau;

3. contract and AOA with the required and valid company approvals;

4. other documents required by the foreign exchange bureau.
Companies that have already gone through foreign exchange registration in the registration jurisdiction need not separately go through foreign exchange registration when setting up branches domestically or abroad.

After examination of the materials presented by a company, the foreign exchange bureau will issue to qualified companies a Foreign Exchange Registration Certificate for Foreign Invested Enterprises. The State Foreign Exchange Bureau bears the sole responsibility for establishing the format for foreign exchange registration.
